The story is that a man walks into the confessional and tells the priest that next Sunday he will kill him. He acknowledges that he is a good priest, but another priest abused him as a child, therefor he decided to kill this good priest. Apparently at the end of the movie he fulfills his promise and kills the priest.
The movie capitalizes on the so-called “Ireland’s devastating sex abuse scandal” – Archbishop Chaput’s words. Yes, Catholic priests committed sins, but the scandal was blown out of proportion by the liberal media.
I usually smell a lie when I read one, and I feel that this movie is based on a lie, which maybe overlooked but perpetuated by the two commentators I mentioned above. The lie is the confession of a trauma caused by bad priestly behaviors that happened decades ago, and the telling to lawyers that it affects them even now. Most of the time they make some money out of this lie, which does not relieve their trauma, but with their additional lies to justify their initial lie sends their soul spiraling into full despair and even suicide.
If one was molested and abused as a young child, he did not understand what happened and even the memories later will not cause him a trauma. If he is older and becomes a willing participant in the sin that goes on for years it can develop into a neurosis of a homosexual nature. He may hate himself for becoming a homosexual, but that is not a trauma.
The movie should not end with the murder of the priest, but with the full exposure of the murderer’s agony, who in this movie represents Judas.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01306742014708679955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1887258513611422728.post-12603898376200904702014-09-15T14:26:42.748-06:002014-09-15T14:26:42.748-06:00Wow!Wow!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02777185536352165227noreply@blogger.com
